Literal Sydney Brunch Lyf- where to eat!

Time to share my favourite spots, get ready! This is in no particular order, because it isn’t fair or EASY to full order your favourite cafe’s…. Let’s Go!

Circa Espresso- Parramatta: Can’t fault this one. If you close your eyes, you’re in Melbourne. You’re in heaven. Take one look at the menu and you’ll think this cafe was designed by a top Australian chef. Many Middle Eastern vibes, you’ll love the menu so much it will make you come back to try all the dishes. If you’re a coffee snob, thisis your place. They specialise in cold drip coffee, so do what you will. They have iced Milos, and they also serve fruity spritzers, there really isn’t anything Circa can’t do. They change their menu up every so often, but I recommend the lamb shanks, the Ottoman eggs, and the Baked eggs. The fish is often on the menu too, and you can’t go past that. Not open on Monday’s.

Culture Bean- Kogarah: Cronuts, check. Fresh juice, check. Acai bowls, check. Big breakfasts, check. Once I came here and couldn’t decide between a sweet or savoury dish, I went into melt down. So I ordered an acai bowl, with a side of bacon. It had to be done. Everything here is just made with so much love and taste that you just want to try everything they have to offer. Coffee is great, of course. The acai bowls are sweet and textured just right. The juices are of the hook and the dishes are decently priced. Come down here and you won’t be disappointed (Only if you have to wait for a seat)

Jo and Willey’s Depot- North Bondi: If you want hipster. You go here. If you want cool service. You go here. If you want to sit at an angle. You go here. But seriously, this is the perfect spot after you do the Bondi Bay run. Just up past the beach sits this cafe, busy enough to be bustling and reputable, but quiet enough to be away from the main beach precinct. No tourist in sight up here, they don’t know about the gold locations in Sydney, we keep them secret! Try their Veggie stack or their Spanish breakfast. These are their two highlights on the menu, aside from the acai bowls and smoothies, of course.

Bad Manner Thymes Espresso- Parramatta: It is hard to find hipster or quirky cafes around Western Sydney, but walk into Bad Manners and you’ll think you’re in the Inner West. Fresh decor and roomy interior make it really pleasant. The waiting team are really sweet, and the menus so succinct you won’t know what to order. *try their big brekky*. You won’t regret a visit here, it is a small team so they’re extra friendly!

Platform 8- Parramatta: A local cafe most people walk past because of their overpriced cronuts in the window, well I’ll tell you know, try their beautiful breakfasts and their Gabriel coffee and you’ll walk in here every time. The coffee is always made to perfection, never bitter. The service is friendly and consistent every time. In Summer they do great freshly brewed ice teas, and their burgers at lunch time are huge and tasty. If you don’t try their all day breakfast menu, you’ll miss out on some real good MAPLE fricken BACON. Amongst all the other goodies 🙂

XS Espresso -Wetherill Park: Not going to go into detail here, you all know how I bang on about acai bowls, well XS owns the acai kingdom in Western Sydney. The best part is the decor and the hidden location of this gold mine. Serving Campos coffee, which is hard to come by around here, it is great. And they do take away acai bowls. And EFTPOS. they win in my books.

Granata’s- Pemulwuy : Western Sydney’s hidden gem, an Italian restaurant by night, a modern cafe by day, and gelato in between! Granata’s has been around for about 2 years, and in it’s short life has become a local hit. Avo Smash for breakfast, Pasta specials for lunch, and then come back for their large pizzas at night time! They often have live music on the scene, and some pretty good nutella pizzas. There really is something for everyone here. Support a local WS Wanderers family by checking out their restaurant, it is really nice. Food is great, just a little on the pricey size for what it is.

Bondi Whole Foods-1/30A Hastings Pde, North Bondi: BWF is a weird one. In a pretty random location, in suburbia. It is really a wholefoods and organic food store, with a surprise cafe that sprawls into the retail store. It is kinda tiny from the cafe stand point, but their menu really packs a punch. Vegan friendly, you’ll find the service amazing, attentive, and the food fresh and simplistic. It is definitely feel-good food. Even when a dish sounds too healthy, they are actually really tasty. I recommend the cacao pancakes with the berry compote. For the not so faint hearted, try the Tumeric latte. [See http://wp.me/p6B8A8-e%5D

Public Espresso- 500 Oxford St, Bondi Junction: Located Near Vans in Bondi Junction Westfields, Public Espresso feels like the perfect combination of rustic and contemporary, but lush. The food is fresh, the servers are nice and friendly, and the food was bang on! For a cafe in a bustling area, it sure feels like a breath of fresh air and bit wound down, which is a huge relief. They do a mean Eggs benny, and their fresh juices are TD4. http://wp.me/p6B8A8-1r

Any comments or cafes that aren’t here? Please comment! I need to know the ones I have missed and haven’t tried, i would love suggestions.

  1. Well, looking here! Someone has brunch down pat! Can you believe, even at 23 years old, I still skip breakfast? You’d think I’d be wiser at this age. Situation’s about to change after reading this list. Clearing out my work platter in order to hit up your suggestions over the next few weekends. Food is encouragement, food is life. Must eat breakfast. Repeat ten times.

Three Williams, Devon Cafe, Cornersmith, Four Ate Five and Brewtown Newtown are some of my favourites.

Are you a coffee drinker? I will scream with excitement if you compose a list of your favourite coffee joints or beverages to accompany your brunches! Milkshakes are my weakness.
